Port Forwarding directs unsolicited connections from the internet to a device on the internal network. Alternately, Port Triggering only directs connections from the internet to a device on the internal network when that device first initiates a request. To increase the security of your network, we recommend using Port Triggering when creating rules for inbound and outbound traffic on your network.
The SIP protocol, which controls VoIP calling, can range from ports 1025 to 65535 as determined by your network equipment. For the greatest compatibility, we recommend creating rules that allow your phone to communicate on all ports. The following ports are used for outbound communication from your phone to our servers.
| Protocol | Ports |
| DNS | 53 |
| TFTP | 21, 69, 2400 |
| HTTP | 80 |
| NTP | 123 |
| SIP | 5060, 10000 - 10010 |
| RTP | 10000 - 65534 NOTE: This protocol must be set for inbound and outbound traffic. |
Your network must allow inbound and outbound traffic from RTP ports 10000 - 65534 to prevent one-way or no audio on phone calls. For the greatest compatibility, use a supported modem/router with recommended settings.
